An Amherst, Nova Scotia, school bus driver has been charged with two child lur**g related offences following an RCMP investigation.
Luc Castonguay, 58, faces charges of lur**g a child and making se**ally explicit material available to a child.
According to RCMP, the investigation began in October after police received a report that a man had allegedly communicated with a youth online for a sexual purpose. Police subsequently searched a residence on Central Avenue in Amherst, where they seized electronic evidence.
The Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education confirmed that Castonguay, who worked as a school bus driver, has been suspended without pay.
Castonguay was released pending his first court appearance early in the new year. His release conditions prohibit him from having contact with anyone under 18, attending places frequented by children, or accessing the internet except for banking and employment purposes.
RCMP believe there may be additional potential victims who were targeted online and are encouraging parents to speak with their children about internet safety. The charges have not been proven in court.
